Angelo Ciciretto and James Sabiston created Markham Equipment Sales Ltd., in 1982. The intention of creating this company was to buy and sell previously owned transport truck and trailer equipment. Upon encountering some initial success, the company was incorporated on November 1st, 1983. Over the following few years, Markham Equipment's success resulted in their increased purchasing power and fleet size. This success spurred a spin off business to Markham Equipment Sales in 1985, which would be known as Markham Trailer Rentals. At this point in time, the directors felt that the increased profits could be further sought through renting and leasing equipment. This new opportunity provided a regular cash flow and increased stability, which aided in the growth of Markham Equipment Sales. This continued growth resulted in the placement of branches in Belleville, Ontario (1990) and London, Ontario (1992). In 1995, Angelo Ciciretto bought out his partner James Sabiston and as a result became sole shareholder of Markham Equipment Sales Ltd. Ciciretto's influence on the three branches resulted in further success in serving the Ontario market. Ciciretto continued to ensure growth until February 1996, when Markham Trailer Rentals, Belleville Trailer Rentals, and London Trailer Rentals were purchased by G.E. Capital Corporation. As part of this purchase agreement, Angelo Ciciretto and Markham Equipment Sales Ltd. agreed not to enter into the Ontario leasing market. Thus, Markham Equipment Sales Ltd. became solely focused on the buying and selling of transport trailer equipment. Markham Equipment Sales Ltd. eventually established exclusive dealership rights over such companies as Strick Corporation, Max-Atlas Equipment International Inc., Reinke Manufacturing Company Inc., and Rogers Brothers Corporation.
